R&J Road Service was founded in 1999 with one truck and a clear vision — to serve customers above and beyond expectations. From day one, our mission has been simple: provide timely service, fair rates, and get drivers back on the road as quickly and safely as possible.

Owner Rufus Galyen began his career in the truck and trailer repair industry at just 18 years old. By 21, he was managing a truck tire retread shop, leading operations and gaining hands-on experience that would shape his future in the industry.

At 27, Rufus transitioned into mobile truck repair while working for a local wrecker service that was launching a mobile division. Under his leadership, that division thrived — and in 1999, he stepped out in faith to build R&J Road Service from the ground up.

What started with a single service truck has grown into a trusted name in heavy-duty truck repair. In 2023, Rufus expanded the business by opening a second location in Troutdale, Virginia. During this time, he also began semi-retirement, passing daily leadership of the Wilson, North Carolina location to his son, Mark Galyen, and family.

Today, Mark and the team continue building on the foundation Rufus established — committed to growth, integrity, and dependable service. Our goal is to see the Wilson location continue to expand while the Troutdale location becomes firmly established and serves its region with the same excellence.
